MOANA, MAKE WAY!

It was Hawaiian Day at Kennedy’s school this week, and I didn’t want to let her down by not dressing up, but Mama did not plan or prepare. So I found myself randomly making a Moana-inspired Hawaiian crown at 2 am. I’m not going to lie; I enjoyed every minute of it.

While making the crown, I was reminded of the previous school year that was full of #fails! Last school year I was pregnant, and pretty miserable most days. Getting Kennedy to school on time was my most significant accomplishment. I rushed through our homeschool days and usually ended up at the Dollar Tree trying to make something work on spirit days.

If this is your norm, no shade here, I get it. However, I love crafting and projects, so for me, this is me not being my best self. During this period, if a friend or someone at church needed something from me, I would always find a way to come through. I would be just as sick or tired, and I would still make sure I “showed up.”

Naturally, our family usually gets the short end of the stick when we’re not functioning at 100%. We assume that they’ll understand or that it’s not that big of a deal because they’re family. Most of the time they do. What sucks about this, is you begin to put more effort into strangers than you do your own tribe.

This post is meant to be a simple reminder that home is where everything flows from, so make sure you’re filling up the cups of those you’ve been called to love. Pour out as much of the good stuff there, that’s where your legacy is built, that’s where the most meaningful people live.

Kennedy was so happy with her crown and outfit!

Side Note: If you don’t have a Cricut, get one, it took me no time to whip this paper crown together because of my Cricut Air.
